What We Do

Since 2020, we have been on a journey of growth, providing free online chess education to kids aged 6 to 14. This year marks our 5th anniversary.

We keep the class size to 15 to encourage active class participation. So far, 667 children have benefited from our program, which has boosted their confidence, sharpened their strategic thinking and decision-making, and developed their interest in STEM. Many of them have become competitive tournament players.

2025

In the spring of 2025, we introduced chess at the Chinese New Year celebration held at the Acton Chinese Language School. We continued providing monthly puzzles for students to practice and organized online chess tournaments each month to help students gain tournament experience.

During the summer of 2025, we will offer a session from July 7 to July 27, which promises to be a valuable learning experience for all participants.

The session consists of two beginner, two intermediate, and two advanced classes, and each class had six lessons. Seventy-Six students have enrolled in our program. Among them,

  • 75% are boys, 25% are girls.
  • 76% have some chess knowledge, and 24% have never played chess before.
  • 70% are new to our program.

On June 21, we celebrated chess at Fifer's Day Festival in Boxborough, where we attracted many newcomers as well as established chess players to our booth.

On June 22, we held a Zoom orientation for enrolled students, providing them with details about our program and discussing the changes and improvements we have made this year.

Furthermore, we will organize an in-person Awards Ceremony on August 9. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students, and we hope everyone has a great time together.
